Held at the Star Performing Arts Centre on 1 May 2015, Prime Minister (PM) Lee Hsien Loong graced the event as Guest-of-Honour.
NTUC Secretary-General Lim Swee Say commenced the Rally by giving an opening address, paying tribute to workers who have played a big role in taking Singapore from Third World to First World. He was followed by PM Lee Hsien Loong’s keynote address where he stressed the importance of tripartism and the need to keep Singapore exceptional.
Commemorating 50 years of nation-building, the highlight for this year’s May Day Rally was a music revue performed by the Labour Movement’s 3-Gen (Generation) members, showcasing how the Labour Movement played a transformational role in Singapore’s economic and social development.
President Diana Chia led the crowd in giving this year’s May Day Resolution.
This year’s Resolution included a reaffirmation on the Labour Movement’s pledge to stand tall with all workers of Singapore, commit to Tripartism, continue with the symbiotic relationship with the People’s Action Party, build on the Labour Movement’s solidarity with the International Labour Movement, and strengthening the resolve to continue making Singapore exceptional.
