This year’s May Day Awards recognises outstanding men, women and organisations that have created a significant impact on the lives of workers in Singapore. From holding events and engagements to forging partnerships and launching new initiatives, their contributions are deeply felt by various business units in the Labour Movement who stepped forward to nominate them.

Security Tripartite Cluster (Partner of Labour Movement)
In November 2017, the STC made three key recommendations which encompassed annual quantum increments to each PWM wage point from 1 January 2019 to 2021, Schedule of Increases from 2022 to 2024 and removal of OTE from January 2021. The STC recommended a total increase of $300 to the PWM basic wage floor for Security Officer ranks; and $285 for Senior Security Officers and above from 2019 to 2021. Higher quantum increments are recommended in 2021, the year that OTE will be removed. The STC comprises members from various agencies such as Ministry of Manpower (MOM), Workforce Singapore (WSG), Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Singapore Police Force (SPF), Union of Security Employees (USE), Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF), security associations as well as service providers and service buyers.

Singapore FinTech Association (Partner of Labour Movement)
Singapore FinTech Association joined the NTUC U Associate ecosystem in March 2017. Being the only Fintech association in Singapore, they have been very forward-looking and passionate about driving positive change in the industry as well as grooming talent to plug the gaps in this growing industry. SFA works very closely with U Associate to develop the FinTech Talent Programme to equip our working people with knowledge of the latest trends and developments, and prepare them for the next wave of change. Two runs of the programme have been completed with 60 graduates and the programme is expected to continue to benefit more working people. SFA is also currently working with U Associate to incorporate the Attach and Train element into the FinTech Talent Programme so that individuals can be placed into meaningful Fintech positions within their network of companies.

Garuda Robotics Pte Ltd (Partner of Labour Movement)
A Singapore-based leading professional drones and unmanned aerial vehicle robotics technology developer and provider, Garunda Robotics collaborated with NTUC's e2i collaborated with Garuda Robotics to pilot a five-day structured drones training workshop for 90 locals to acquire future skills and knowledge to complement their jobs and increase work productivity. As a local small and medium-sized enterprise (SME), Garuda Robotics is a strong believer in attracting, hiring, training and retaining its Singaporean Core. The company aims to train as many people as possible to build an ecosystem of people trained with this skillset that is transferrable across industries.
