The wet grounds caused by a massive downpour earlier on 7 August 2015 did not discourage active agers and their families to gather at The Promontory at Marina Bay to celebrate Singapore’s 50th birthday. Themed “U Live, The Time of Your Life!”, the event brought participants together to catch up and reminisce their times of yesteryears.

Present at the event was NTUC Deputy Secretary-General Heng Chee How who said through a Facebook post: “The earlier heavy rain had made the Marina Bay Promontory ground soft and a little muddy. Glad that the clouds then parted and the celebratory entertainment programme organised by NTUC U Live (The Time of Your Life) could get going.

“Many thanks to all our members, friends and their families who came to the event despite the inclement weather! And our heartfelt gratitude to our seniors and mature workers whom we want to dedicate today's celebrations to, for your immense contributions to the building of our Nation!”

In addition to being entertained by the dynamic duo of Irene Ang as housewife Rosie Phua from “Phua Chu Kang” and Moe Alkaff, participants and their families were also treated to an array of fun activities like band performances by one of Singapore's most versatile pop groups in the sixties ― The Silver Strings  and a community percussion performance by active agers of the U Live community.

We bring you other highlights of the event:

From young to old, families of all ages came down to the "U Live, Time of Your Life!" event.

Participants were entertained by an exhilarating cajon performance by the U Live Drum Circle.

The night was topped off with a dazzling display of fireworks.
