The Labour Movement is looking forward to welcoming 10,000 more members by 2013 into its growing group of Professionals, Managers and Executives (PMEs).

This follows an agreement signed with Adam Khoo Learning Technologies Group (AKLTG) in July this year. To mark its commitment to meeting the needs of PMEs, the Labour Movement held the inaugural U Associate Appreciation Night at SWiTCH by Timbre on 28 September 2012.

Currently, PMEs make up about 23 per cent, or over 160,000, of NTUC’s 700,000 members and the Labour Movement will continue to cultivate more partnerships with professional bodies and stakeholders in different industries.

The U Associate programme is designed to enable professional bodies, institutions and alumnus clubs to join NTUC en-masse, allowing members to enjoy a holistic array of Work, Live and Play benefits.

Currently, NTU Alumni Club, Institute of Estate Agents, Singapore School Transport Association, Singapore Institute of Management and Adam Khoo Learning Technologies Group (AKLTG) are the first five partners of the programme.

Members get to enjoy NTUC’s privileges such as professional development subsidies under the UTAP (Union Training Assistance Program), workplace advisory services, FairPrice rebates and LinkPoints, among others.

Speaking on the U Associate Programme, NTUC Competency Director (Membership) Vivek Kumar said: “It is designed to add value to PMEs who are already organised by an association.

“By formally associating themselves with the Labour Movement, these partners are able to offer U Privileges to their members. We expect at least five more associations to join the Labour Movement by 2013.”
