Earlier today, the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) Central Committee met and deliberated on further strengthening NTUC’s leadership so that NTUC remains effective as a tripartite partner in serving the interest of the workers and businesses.
At the meeting, the Central Committee unanimously agreed to request for Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to consider releasing a Cabinet Minister to the Labour Movement to help strengthen labour leadership at the NTUC and also help strengthen the link between the Labour Movement and the government.
There are plans for NTUC’s Central Committee members to co-opt him into the Central Committee as Deputy Secretary-General next week.
