Tamil Arasi believes there is no age limit for lifelong learning.
Despite being retrenched twice, Madam Arasi has never stopped attending training courses. She also maintains an open attitude to taking on various jobs.
In between several jobs, she enrolled for the Workforce Skills Qualifications Certificate in Healthcare Support in 2010.
Madam Arasi initially faced some difficulties understanding the lessons taught in the course but she remained determined to pass the competency tests.
Her pursuit for continuous and lifelong learning did not stop there.
Ever since she joined Singapore General Hospital, she has taken active steps to adapt to the work in the ward.
“There are a lot of courses to upgrade ourselves if we are interested to do so. There is now the SkillsFuture Credit and you can apply to use it to improve your knowledge in the healthcare line. I am intending to use it in the future,” said Madam Arasi.
Under her supervisor’s recommendations to attend the Advance Healthcare Assistant Course (Inpatients), Madam Arasi has gained the necessary skills in ward-based procedures.
“I am very happy to get this award. It motivates me to improve myself to provide good service to the patients and my colleagues,” she added.
