Mr Goh Jeow Hong may be over 80, but he is still going strong and relishing the challenges that work brings on.
“I’ve been working all my life, since I was 13. Work helps me keep busy, otherwise I’d be bored just staying at home with nothing to do. I enjoy work and I’ve taken care of myself well that I haven’t been on MC over the last 15 years,” he shared.
His core duties at work include handling paint jobs, basic carpentry, electrical and plumbing work at Novotel Clarke Quay. He is also in charge of managing new trainees from the Polytechnics and ITEs, and he’s always open to imparting his skills and knowledge to the younger generation of
workers.
Despite some challenges in speaking English, he has gone as far as successfully making a presentation when he received the Best Employee of the Year award in 2015. Ever ready to learn new things, Mr Goh is always on the lookout on ways to improve and be better at his work.
