Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Guy Ryder called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana on the afternoon of 26 October 2015.

He was accompanied by NTUC Secretary-General Chan Chun Sing.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), the Prime Minister and the Director-General reaffirmed the close and longstanding strategic partnership between Singapore and the ILO and had a fruitful exchange on international developments relating to the world of work.

International Forum on Tripartism

Mr Ryder is in Singapore to attend the International Forum on Tripartism (IFT), which is jointly organised by the MOM, the National Trades Union Congress and the Singapore National Employers Federation.

The IFT, held on 26 October 2015, served to commemorate both Singapore’s 50 years of independence and its 50th year as a member state of the ILO.

This is the first time that an ILO Director-General has visited Singapore, and Mr Ryder’s presence is an indication of how close the ties between the country and ILO have become.
