The Centre for Domestic Employees (CDE) launched a month-long campaign with grassroots partners to raise awareness among foreign domestic workers (FDWs) on proper financial management. The campaign was to also encourage domestic workers to open POSB Payroll Accounts with CDE’s help.
Grassroots partners include up to 100 heartland retail shops as well as two religious institutions located in Ang Mo Kio and Hougang.
The launch on 9 December 2018 was in line with CDE’s International Migrant’s Day celebrations.
The grassroots partners will contribute by allowing handy information cards produced by CDE to be placed in their premises.
The cards contain information such as an advisory to warn against moneylenders and CDE’s contact for assistance in submitting their application to open a POSB Payroll Account.
According to CDE, over 10,000 FDWs will receive these information cards. The cards come in English, and the key points have been translated to Myanmese and Bahasa Indonesia.
