Women who are seeking to return to the workforce can now do so at ease, all thanks to the second job fair organised by the NTUC Women’s Development Secretariat (WDS) on 22 October 2011. The job fair was organised with women jobseekers’ feedback in mind, where their preference for office-based jobs were taken into consideration. And it was such that NTUC WDS decided to create office-based job opportunities for the women jobseekers.
And in order to increase the women labour force participation rate and to retain the women, it was also suggested that women’s passion for the job should be taken into consideration.
Said NTUC Assistant Secretary-General Cham Hui Fong: “Moving forward, we will also be looking at job fairs that really look into a person’s passion, not so much of skills they have, but the passion that they have. This will probably be something that can be more lasting.”
