Breaking away from the norm in the security industry which offers a six-day work week on a 12-hour shift, One Security has devised a flexible arrangement for women who plan to return to the workforce while still being able to attend to their family needs.
The Labour Movement's Union of Security Employees (USE) worked together with One Security Private Limited to come up with the choice of a five or six-day work week and a six- or eight-hour shift.
"I think a 12-hour shift is too long for mothers. So, a flexible job arrangement can actually help bring them back to the workforce. Through experience, when they come for an interview and the moment they hear that it is a 12-hour shift, they will step back and say it's too long and that they need to spend time with the family.
"That's why we came up with such flexibility to help these women to come back to the workforce," said One Security Managing Director Sheela Devi.
Besides offering a shorter work shift, One Security provides free union membership to its staff, annual increments, rest days, quarterly performance awards and more.
In addition, once workers are covered under the Employment Act, they will be eligible for full CPF contributions as well.
Shared USE Executive Council member Hareenderpal Singh, who is also a Welfare Officer with One Security: "We enjoy an excellent relationship with One Security, and we hope that more companies can be encouraged from this positive example."
