[Feature] Lighting the Way With a Win-win Collaboration

For union leaders and workers in unions belonging to the Oil, Petroleum, Energy and Chemicals (OPEC) cluster, the road ahead is ablaze with opportunities brought about by an alliance formed between the cluster and four NTUC U Associates.

 

“The Labour Movement is moving a few steps ahead so that we can ensure our workers are not left behind. OPEC unions working together with NTUC U Associates to leverage each other’s strengths is a win-win collaboration. As a larger collective voice, the alliance will be able to address issues in a more effective manner,” said NTUC OPEC Cluster Chairman K Karthikeyan.

 

For a start, all parties will collaborate on the following key focus areas: 

1) Operationalise Energy and Chemicals ITM through mobilising workers for training 

2) Uplift standards of Process Technicians and Engineers

3) Ensure workers’ perspectives are taken into formulation of any strategies and policies

4) Raise safety standards towards Total Workplace Safety and Health
