Making Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) an integral part of its daily business operations has worked well for Singapore’s supermarket chain NTUC FairPrice Co-operative Limited – it recently became the proud recipient of the Best Workplace Award by Singapore Compact for Corporate Social Responsibility.
The award recognises the organisation which best promotes and practices equal opportunities, employment benefits, health and safety, flexible work arrangements and many other initiatives, as part of corporate culture and operations.
FairPrice Director of Human Resource, Rebecca Teo shared: “The award encourages us in our continued engagement with our staff, so that more and better initiatives can be implemented to benefit them.”
FairPrice’s staff are encouraged to participate in various social activities and CSR initiatives, to help them maintain a work-life balance.
FairPrice also supports its staff with a Study Grant for employee’s children and a Hardship Grant to tide workers when they are going through a rough patch.
FairPrice provides a fair and competitive total compensation package to attract, reward and retain staff. There are structured policies on staff remuneration, and individual and team efforts are well rewarded.
