NTUC FairPrice has launched a pilot initiative called “FairPrice on Wheels”, which aims to provide less privileged seniors with more access to essential groceries.
The trial, which commences today, will see a grocery van visit five locations between 9.00am to 2.00pm:
These five locations were selected based on demographic data where more than 30 per cent of residents are above the age of 60 and mostly living in three-room flats.
FairPrice Group CEO Seah Kian Peng stated that while FairPrice encourages everyone to stay home during this period, he understands that certain groups of elderly do not have anyone to rely on for the purchase of essentials.
“Therefore, we aim to bring daily essentials closer to their homes, especially for seniors, so that they do not have to spend too much time away from home,” he said.
The purchase limit per customer, implemented on 27 March 2020, across all FairPrice outlets will also apply for the FairPrice on Wheels vans. These include:
