NTUC FairPrice has pledged to donate up to a total of $80,000 to Children’s Aid Society and Lions Home for the Elders through the sale of its house brand mandarin oranges this Lunar New Year.

The social enterprise announced the initiative at the opening of its ninth FairPrice Xtra hypermarket at Parkway Parade on 22 January 2021.

The event was hosted by FairPrice Group CEO Seah Kian Peng and graced by Second Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry Tan See Leng.

As part of the pledge, FairPrice will donate $2 for each box of Pasar mandarin oranges sold till 12 February 2021 at all 149 FairPrice stores islandwide.

Proceeds will be donated equally between the Children’s Aid Society and the Lions Home for the Elders to benefit their beneficiaries.

Mr Seah said: “We are glad to continue our tradition of spreading festive cheer to the less fortunate over the Chinese New Year period. Through this initiative, we galvanise and involve the community in doing good together.”

FairPrice’s Latest Hypermarket

According to FairPrice, the latest hypermarket – which spans over 59,000 square feet – will be a blend of lifestyle and retail space, offering an integrated dining and retail shopping experience.

The store places special emphasis on promoting local brands and locally made products.

“This new integrated store concept complements our focus to put customers first and make everything about food easy. More importantly, it supports and promotes local brands and businesses, reflecting our commitment to support locally grown and locally made food,” said Mr Seah.
