NTUC FairPrice has announced that it will sponsor Singapore’s first international professional boxer Muhamad Ridhwan in his quest to claim the International Boxing Organisation (IBO) Super Bantamweight World Title.
Should Ridhwan emerge victorious, he will be the first Singaporean to clinch a world championship under IBO.
Touching on his sponsorship, Ridhwan said: “I am deeply honoured to represent Singapore in this upcoming world title fight and grateful to have earned the sponsorship from FairPrice, an organisation that I can identify with, like most Singaporeans.
“I want to thank FairPrice for their steadfast belief in local sportsmen and my quest to be Singapore's first boxing world champion. I will persevere relentlessly in training so I can make Singapore proud.”
NTUC FairPrice will be taking care of Ridhwan's training leading up to the bout. This includes training support with Singapore as his base, regional sparring partners, and local and international training camps.
Additionally, FairPrice will be the official sponsor of the IBO international championships called Roar of Singapore V, where Ridhwan’s fight will take place next year.
The event is organised by Ringstar, a Sports Media Property that focuses on boxing.

FairPrice has also previously sponsored international sporting events held in Singapore such as the Youth Olympics, Special Olympics and the SEA Games.
