The National Trades Union Congress' (NTUC) e2i (Employment and Employability Institute) will officially commence operations at a new campus at Jurong East on 1 October 2013. For a start, there will be a two-week long employability fair where a host of activities and events are catered to both workers and employers.

Since the launch of e2i by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in 2008, the institute which was previously located at Redhill, has been working closely with job seekers, workers, companies and partners, to create solutions for better employment and employability.

e2i is committed to place workers into better jobs; develop workers professionally through skills upgrading; as well as help companies to improve productivity. More than 200,000 workers have been assisted over the years. With the bigger campus, e2i will be able to establish bigger, better and wider partnerships to help more workers and employers in the following ways.

  1. Integrated services for an inclusive workforce
  2. Targeted solutions for employers, especially the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs); and
  3. More pathways for workers to have access to better jobs.

Integrated services include delivering a seamless service experience for job seekers where they are able to receive coaching, sit for assessment tests, attend training and have access to job opportunities. Targeted assistance for low wage workers and Professional, Managers and Executives will also be available when two new centres for these two groups of workers are set up at the campus.

For employers, e2i will be their partner who offers solutions for their manpower and productivity needs. There will be regular location-based outreach events and engagement sessions to provide business owners with targeted and customised solutions to help them raise their company's productivity, improve business capabilities and upskill their workforce.

With a larger space, e2i is able to work with training partners to provide accessibility to blended learning, vocational skills training and experiential learning. There will also be more platforms to bring together current and new partners for collaboration and creation of more career and training pathways.

"We want to be a one-stop centre to help both workers and employers address their employment and employability needs. e2i is committed to make every worker a better worker; every job a better job; and match better workers to better jobs,' says Mr Gilbert Tan, Chief Executive Officer of e2i.
