NTUC Eldercare’s Care Ambassador Award recipient: Jasmine He Siew Moi
The NTUC Care Ambassador Award celebrates the outstanding performance of the Social Enterprises staff who have consistently demonstrated care in extraordinary ways for a customer or colleague as they go the extra mile to deliver their services.
When Jasmine He Siew Moi (right), a Therapy Aide at NTUC Eldercare Co operative Limited’s Silver Circle (Taman Jurong) day care centre first met 70-year old Ang Kiam Teng, he was quiet, reserved, non-responsive to her questions and refused to participate in any activities. He was also unable to interact well with his family members.
Having suffered a stroke and now saddled with Parkinson’s Disease, the retired businessman could not accept his illness. Madam He made the effort to speak to his wife in person and found out he used to run a stall in Redhill market so she designed a creative role play activity called “Buying and Selling” to draw him out of his shell.
Thanks to Madam He’s efforts, Mr Ang today is cheerful and confident, and motivated to do his physiotherapy sessions which have improved his mobility. He also interacts better with family members when they come to visit.
