Do well, do good, do together, do more.

For over 40 years, the Labour Movement’s Social Enterprises (SEs) have been serving the needs of workers and their families. Today, they serve over two million customers annually and employ over 13,000 staff.
National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) Enterprise Co-operative Limited, formed just over a year ago, will ensure that the evolving needs of the working population are met.
NTUC Enterprise Chairman Lim Boon Heng emphasised the unit’s social commitment during his speech at the inaugural General Meeting on 27 September 2013 at Orchid Country Club.

Moving forward, Mr Lim shared that NTUC Enterprise will sharpen the Do Good of the Social Enterprises (SEs) and continually review its activities to make a greater difference in people’s lives.

In his speech, he pointed out two areas of focus for NTUC Enterprises namely: (1) To support the Government's efforts in providing proper elderly care and services for the greying population, (2) The importance of keeping the prices of cooked food at a minimal cost by strengthening NTUC Foodfare presence in the heartlands.

In addition, new efforts will also be implemented to lower the cost of groceries, household goods, medicine and education and strengthen the workers' financial security in times of economic uncertainty.

To fortify its social impact, NTUC Enterprise together with the SEs will work harder towards strengthening financial resilience through better investments and effective managements of assets.

One perfect example was how NTUC Enterprise recently acquired 50 per cent of nex Mall in Serangoon Central.

Mr Lim also identified the need to nurture and deploy talent as well as maximise the potential of existing staff in core management roles and the importance of better information dissemination to people they serve to ensure that efforts are not misunderstood.

"Let us continue to create our future with constancy of purpose and confidence, and make a difference to the workers and people of Singapore,” Mr Lim concluded.
