Want to give encouragement to the Team Singapore athletes at the upcoming 26th Southeast Asian Games and 6th ASEAN Para Games? Well, now you can send your well wishes and dedicate the values you think best represent the Singapore Spirit at 64 selected NTUC Fairprice Co-operative Limited stores islandwide from today till 22 December 2011 (log on to www.fairprice.com.sg for the list of stores).
The NTUC Social Enterprise has partnered the Singapore Sports Council (SSC) to launch a well wishing campaign to cheer on Team Singapore athletes at the upcoming Games in Indonesia in November and December respectively.
The campaign, which kicked off at the FairPrice Xtra outlet at nex Mall on 29 September 2011, was graced by Minister of State for Community Development, Youth and Sports Halimah Yacob. She was the first to pen her well wish to the Team Singapore athletes by giving them the value of “Dedication” to take to the Games. Madam Halimah was joined by NTUC Fairprice Managing Director (Business Groups) Gerry Lee as well as SSC Chief Executive Officer Lim Teck Yin, 6th ASEAN Para Games Chef-de-Mission Ee Tiang Hwee and 26th SEA Games Assistant Chef-de-Mission Antony Lee.
“FairPrice believes in the ability of sports to strengthen community bonds. As a Social Enterprise, we are committed to fostering community bonding, and we are proud once again to support our athletes by helping to raise awareness and bring Singaporeans together to root for Team Singapore in the upcoming Games. Let us all do our part as Singaporeans to wish our team well and cheer them on,” said Mr Lee.
This is not the first time NTUC Fairprice has been supportive of Singapore’s sporting efforts. FairPrice Foundation, its charity arm, gave out sports scholarships for medalists of the Asian Youth Games in 2009 and Youth Olympic Games in 2010 worth $100,000 and $150,000 respectively. Cheers, Fairprice's convenience store brand, also organised a big cheer event to support Singapore’s athletes at the Youth Olympic Games.
