Grab a bite, pay your bills and collect online purchases – all while filling up your car at Esso.

A whole new revamped concept is coming your way at a station near you. Launched on 22 November 2016, the new convenience store format will now offer a new range of ready-to-eat meals and other value-added services driven by technology.

As part of the revamp, local brands like The Soup Spoon, Pastamania and Udders will offer tasty bites and treats under a newly created brand called The Common Good Company.

Customers can look forward to more value-added services such as NETS self-service kiosks offering bill payment and top-up services, and package delivery and pick-up services through the DHL Self-Serve app.

NTUC FairPrice currently operates the FairPrice Xpress and Cheers stores at all 62 Esso service stations in partnership with ExxonMobil Asia Pacific.

NTUC FairPrice CEO Seah Kian Peng said: “Today’s consumers are time-strapped and this means a greater demand for convenient solutions. Through this development, we are able to create new growth opportunities with innovative business formats and technology.

“This also generates more vibrancy for our customers and provides convenient access to services that are tailored around their lifestyle.”

The new retail format has debuted across five Esso stations and will progressively be rolled out to the other 57 stations over the next two years.

In Line with Government’s ITM

The new revamp is in line with the Government’s Food Services Industry Transformation Map (ITM) that was announced in September this year. Key strategies of the ITM include introducing new business formats, such as the retailing of ready meals, and making use of manpower-lean technology.
