The National Trades Union Congress’ (NTUC) e2i (Employment and Employability Institute) and Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) are going into the heartlands to actively reach out to residents living in the Eastern, Central and Western parts of Singapore to fill new vacancies at Singapore’s first integrated resort, through a series of recruitment fairs to be held over the next two months. The two partners are responding to requests from the public who are unable to travel far for job interviews due to family or work commitments. Now, Singaporeans, especially those considering returning to the workforce, will have easier access to recruitment activities which will be brought closer to their homes.
e2i and RWS are seeking candidates who possess passion, warmth and a zest for hospitality, by now synonymous with the high service standards at the resort. Interested individuals can register for any one of the three recruitment fairs at Bukit Batok, Bedok and Kallang in July and August. Over 700 job vacancies are available at the new attractions and hotels of RWS’s Phase Two development, including its new Maritime Experiential Museum & Aquarium (MEMA), the Marine Life Park – set to be the world’s largest oceanarium, Equarius Hotel and Spa Villas; which have been scheduled to open progressively from the second half of 2011 onwards.
Applicants have a wide variety of positions to choose from. There are close to 50 different positions across areas such as Attractions, Hospitality, Corporate & Resort Services and Casino at this recruitment drive. Both full time, as well as part-time positions are available.
e2i and RWS had forged a long-term partnership since 2009, when both organisations first collaborated in the recruitment and training of thousands of potential employees in preparation for the resort’s soft opening in early 2010. The hiring of locals has always been – and will continue to be – a priority for RWS, with e2i continuing to work closely with RWS to fill its manpower needs.
At this recruitment exercise, e2i will assist to screen all candidates to ensure the right job fit. Shortlisted candidates will then meet with the hiring managers from RWS at the job fairs.
“We decided to bring the jobs to those living in the heartlands as many have asked if we can make it easier and bring the jobs closer to them. For those who are keen to explore a different career or even housewives and retirees who are looking for part-time or casual work, will now find it easier and more convenient to apply for a job,” said Mr Ang Hin Kee, Chief Executive Officer of e2i.
Ms Seah-Khoo Ee Boon, Senior Vice President of Human Resources & Training at RWS said: “RWS is into our second year of operations, but our commitment in hiring locals as our top priority has never wavered. As our recruitment journey continues for the Resort’s second phase, I look forward to welcoming even more Singaporeans to join the RWS family for a long-term career, which I am most confident of achieving with our strong partnership with e2i.”
The first job fair will be held at HomeTeamNS@Bukit Batok on 15 and 16 July 2011. Subsequent job fairs will take place at Bedok Community Centre and Kallang Community Centre on 28 - 29 July and 16 - 17 August respectively. Job seekers who are interested to find out more about the positions can call the e2i hotline at 6474 3777 from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, Mondays to Fridays.
