At the annual Productivity Seminar cum ‘Employee of the Year’ and ‘Productivity Idea’ Awards presentation ceremony, 57 employees were given the ‘Employees of the Year’ award for their outstanding work performance and commendable service at their respective organisations.
Among them was Jalilah Jantan, 44, a Room Attendant at Royal Plaza at Scotts known for going beyond the call of duty.
Once, a Caucasian couple had to leave their room to run an urgent errand. They called Madam Jalilah and entrusted their two children to her care. She is also adept at reading the moods of her guests and adjusting her work schedules to cater to their demands.
“There are some tired guests who come back after a day’s work and show their frustration. Being in this service industry, I still serve them with a smile and do my best, as I always do,” she said.
Her patience and pleasant attitude has won her praise from guests who have been known to leave her both thank you notes and apologies before going to work.
