Together, we can make things Better for each other
To celebrate the workers of Singapore, thank them for their contributions to building a Better Singapore, and inspire a spirit of self-improvement, the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) will launch the Better Movement this May Day.
In line with NTUC Secretary-General Lim Swee Say’s May Day message, the Better Movement strives to encourage a nation of Better Employers, Better Workers and Better Customers through adjusting mindsets and changing our economy, our workforce and our society for the better.
As part of the Better Movement, the Labour Movement has produced 100,000 Better Energy Bands which will be handed out to workers and members of the public at their workplaces. Recipients are encouraged to wear the band to show their commitment and solidarity towards the cause.
For the first time, 1,000 members of the Labour Movement family of all ages, collars and nationalities will begin the island-wide distribution of the Better Energy Bands starting from 12 am on 1 May 2014. Some of the workplaces that will be visited include hospitals, bus and train interchanges, ports and retail malls.
After the annual NTUC May Day Rally, NTUC President Diana Chia, Secretary-General Lim and fellow members of the Central Committee will lead by example and hand out Better Energy Bands to workers at JEM.
