All NTUC union members will enjoy even more value-for-money getaways at Singapore’s holiday island from 1 July 2019, following a three-year Partnership Agreement inked today between the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) and Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC).
Among various benefits rolled out under the Agreement, NTUC members will be able to enter Sentosa island for free just by flashing their NTUC Plus! card at the VivoCity Sentosa Express station and vehicular gantry during weekdays and up to noontime on weekends.
Members will also enjoy complimentary tickets to Sentosa’s award-winning multi-sensory night show, Wings of Time, which takes place twice nightly. Additionally, members can hop on a scenic cable car ride aboard the on-island Sentosa Line, which runs between the Merlion and Siloso Point Stations at an exclusive rate of just $4.50. Members can also enjoy discounts to attractions on Sentosa and exclusive deals during Sentosa’s signature events. (Please see Annex A for a list of attractions)
The Agreement signing was held together with the Family Day celebration at Sentosa, organised by the United Workers of Electronics & Electrical Industries (UWEEI). Some 2,500 union members and their families attended the Family Day. Some of the activities the members and their families enjoyed were the family-friendly inflatables, carnival game stalls and beach games.
The signatories for the Agreement were NTUC’s Assistant Director-General and Director for Membership, Vivek Kumar; and SDC’s Chief Marketing Officer, Lynette Ang, and it was witnessed by NTUC’s Deputy Secretary-General, Heng Chee How and SDC’s Assistant Chief Executive (Corporate Marketing Group)/ Chief Financial Officer, Chin Sak Hin.
According to ADG Vivek,” This strategic partnership is very timely for us. While we work towards future-proofing our members and equipping them with the necessary skills, we would also want to make sure they can enjoy a balanced lifestyle with quality family & personal time. The 3-year MOU with Sentosa makes the island a welcoming playground for all NTUC Union Members. NTUC will continue to work with like-minded partners to look after the welfare of our members, while they continue to stay productive and relevant in the workforce.”
UWEEI’s General Secretary, Tan Richard further reiterated, “At the union level, we are very keen to ensure the mental wellbeing of our members is not compromised. Fun activities like today’s UWEEI family day are one way to de-stress and also create family bonding. This new partnership between NTUC and Sentosa would create more avenues for recreational activities for our members to recharge themselves all year round.”
“Our partnership with NTUC is grounded in Sentosa’s belief in the importance of making time for loved ones amid our busy lives, and Sentosa being a perfect place to do so. This is also in line with efforts to deepen our engagement with Singapore residents. We are thus delighted to bring even more value to union members, who will have more reasons to take a break at Sentosa’s diverse array of offerings, ranging from golden beaches and nature trails, to attractions and events. We encourage all NTUC members to take advantage of the exclusive privileges, and look forward to welcoming more guests to Sentosa,” said Ms Lynette Ang, Chief Marketing Officer, Sentosa Development Corporation.
