About 2,000 of Grab’s driver-partners have signed up to be part of GrabCare, a new dedicated, round-the-clock, on-demand service that aims to enable healthcare professionals to travel to and from hospitals seamlessly.
The pilot service will start on 14 February 2020, for healthcare professionals from the National Centre for Infectious Diseases and Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Workers at these locations who have signed up for the service will be able to book a ride home using the GrabCare icon on the Grab app.
Appreciating the Drivers
NTUC Secretary-General Ng Chee Meng and NTUC Assistant Director-General Ang Hin Kee, together with Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan, were at Newton Food Centre earlier this evening to meet up with drivers and union leaders from the National Taxi Association (NTA) and National Private Hire Vehicles Association (NPHVA), to show their appreciation for stepping up to support the healthcare professionals.
Mr Ang, who is also an advisor to both NTA and NHPVA, said: “I am inspired by the many Grab drivers who have stepped forward to provide their services for our healthcare workers.
“I would like to encourage more in our driver community to join this movement to support our healthcare professionals as they work tirelessly at the frontlines to combat Covid-19. Let us do more, and do together.”
Mr Ng added: “At this moment we really want to support our healthcare workers. This tie up will hopefully encourage them in their duties where their transport needs are met without any fuss.”
In a separate statement, Head of Grab Singapore Yee Wee Tang stated: “GrabCare is our small contribution to rally the community together to support our fellow Singaporeans in times of need, and ensure healthcare workers get a stress-free and hassle-free ride daily.”
