The NTUC-U Care Fund is once again rolling out its NTUC U Stretch and U Care Back to School assistance programmes for low-income union members this year. NTUC U Stretch Vouchers amounting to $2.675 million have been set aside to help 32,500 union members to defray their costs of living and maximise their expenditure on basic necessities. In addition, $3.875 million worth of NTUC U Care Back to School Vouchers will go towards helping 31,000 school-going children which will lighten union members’ financial burden in buying new school supplies for their children’s new school year.
Mr Zainal Bin Sapari, Assistant Secretary-General and Director, Care and Share Department, NTUC, said, “Although Singapore’s economic situation has improved in general, we continue to face the pressures of inflation and rising costs of living. We hope that the NTUC U Stretch and U Care Back to School Vouchers will help our low-income members cope better especially if they are the sole breadwinners or have several dependents.”
The NTUC-U Care Fund would like to thank all its donors for their generous contributions, in particular the Singapore Labour Foundation, NTUC FairPrice Foundation, NTUC’s Social Enterprises such as NTUC Income, NTUC Choice Homes, NTUC-affiliated unions and association, management and tripartite partners, as well as corporate and individual donors. It is through such generous giving to the NTUC-U Care Fund that enables the Labour Movement to continue its efforts in providing assistance to low-income union members and their families.
