It was an evening of good food and great company as more than 700 union members and tripartite partners came together for United Workers of Electronics & Electrical Industries’ (UWEEI) Annual Dinner on 20 September 2013.
Themed ‘Serving U With Heart’, the dinner was a celebration of the year's achievements and the efforts of the union in reaching out to workers in the electronics and electrical industries.
Guest-of-Honour National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) Secretary-General Lim Swee Say commended UWEEI for its constructive Industrial Relations and Labour-Management Relations and its membership growth which has recently crossed the 60,000 mark.
SG Lim highlighted three challenges faced by the manufacturing industry today - volatile demand, keen competition and manpower capability.
But he applauded UWEEI in the area of leadership development and succession planning pointing out that they were first to embrace the ‘3F’ framework - Flow In, Flow Up and Flow On.
UWEEI General Secretary Tan Richard shared that the annual dinner is a yearly affair to celebrate the good labour-management relations that the union shares with the management partners.
Mr Tan also stated that UWEEI has organised special events this year to reach out to its growing number of PMEs (Professionals, Managers and Executives) members.
