Catering to the needs of Professionals, Managers and Executives (PMEs) in the heart of the Central Business District, the Labour Movement (LM) officially opened the second U PME centre at One Marina Boulevard on 9 April 2014. Following the launch of the first U PME Centre at the Employment and Employability Institute (e2i) in January this year, the one-stop centre offers services in line with the LM’s 4Ps- Protection, Placement, Progression and Privileges.
To complement the physical centres, a new PME portal was also launched. PMEs can now access information and services at www.ntuc.org.sg/pme anytime, anywhere.
"In recent years, the Labour Movement has geared itself to remain relevant to outreach to the changing workforce profile. With these centres in place, we are building capacity to position ourselves to be the first stop and one stop for PMEs,” shared NTUC Assistant Secretary-General Patrick Tay, who is also the Director for the PME Unit.
With one-third of its 780,000 members being PMEs, the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) aims to synergise efforts so that this group can be offered a single point of contact from workplace advisory services to career and employment-related advice to professional development services.
Under the 4Ps, PMEs can look forward to the following services at the one-stop centre, which resides within the NTUC Members’ Hub:
