900 tertiary students. 216 teams. Five prestigious schools.
They all come together for Race On!, an annual event organised by NTUC Income held on 14 September 2013.
Now in its fourth run, students from Singapore's top institutions, namely, Nanyang Techonological University (NTU), National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore Insitute of Management (SIM), Singapore Management Univeristy (SMU) and Singapore University of Techonology and Design (SUTD) competed in this game of wits, creativity, resilience and teamwork.
For the first time, an all-female batch of Graduate Trainees from 2012 organised the race.
Under the supervision of their Senior Manager and Head of Branch Services Salbiah Manan, trainees Lydia Lui, Zeng Liyan and Tammy Tan put together a race inspired by popular television shows such as Survivor, Running Man and Amazing Race.
For three and a half hours, teams had to pass through eight stations from Youth Park at Orchard Link to NTUC Income Centre at Bras Basah Road.
In the end, Team Oh Man, with students from NTU, NUS and SMU emerged as champions winning the top prize of $2,000.
"The adrenaline rush was definitely something enjoyable and exciting... we were really glad that our efforts and teamwork paid off well when they announced our team as the champions," said team leader Tan Jun Khiang.
NTUC Enterprise Group Chief Executive Officer Tan Suee Chieh who spoke at the event shared the values of NTUC Income and the objective in organising such event.
"Every year when young graduates join us in our graduate recruitment, we give them a challenge... to organise an event like this to spread the message that we want to promote Income values," Mr. Tan said.
